2026 Audi Q5 Partial Front PPF Case Study: Right-Sized Protection for Sakhir Gold

A 2026 Audi Q5 arrived at our branch in Chicago’s West Grand neighborhood from Oak Park. The owner had recently purchased this “Sahir Gold” vehicle and wanted to keep the paint finish in pristine condition before winter set in.

She uses the Q5 for work in the West Loop, for getting around town, and for short trips on I-290. The customer keeps her SUV in her garage at home and in a covered parking lot during the day. And she asked a basic question at the beginning.

“Do I really need more than just the front bumper protected?”

Three Questions That Changed the Quote

We asked her how much she used the highway, where she kept the Q5, and how long she was going to keep it.

Her answers demonstrated typical front-end risk, but not as much risk as a high-mileage highway SUV. She drove on I-290 once or twice a week. The majority of the miles were driven on city streets.

Why Bumper-Only PPF Was Not Enough

The front bumper takes direct hits from gravel, road salt, bugs, and loose debris.

Small stones can also reach the front edge of the hood, both front fenders, and the headlights. A bumper-only job would have left those areas open.

We also showed her the limit of this package. A thin film line would cross the hood. Sakhir Gold can look warmer in direct light and deeper in shade, so she checked the line from several angles.

Why We Did Not Recommend Full Front

A complete front PPF would protect the entire hood and both front fenders. It would also get rid of the line on the hood.

It was a good choice, but it didn’t suit her needs as well. She didn’t drive very far each year, didn’t take many long trips, and wanted to own the Q5 for about four years.

The important areas at the front are now protected. The mirror caps, door handles, and rear loading edge are also covered with film in areas where they are touched often.

The color of Sakhir Gold still looks the same as when the owner picked it at the dealership. She agreed to the stripe on the front of the car because it was suitable for her driving needs and budget.
