Today, a 2026 Audi Q7 was delivered to our dealership in Palatine from Long Grove. The car was new and painted in a color called Tamarind Brown Metallic.
The owners are a husband and wife with two kids. They drive the Q7 to go to school, work, the grocery store, and sports practices, and also for weekend trips to Wisconsin. This SUV can also drive on Highway 53 and Interstate 94.

School starts on Monday.
Their children set their backpacks down by the door. Little hands reach for the doorknobs. Doors open in crowded areas, where there may be other cars, curbs, or poles nearby.
The Audi drives on Route 53 throughout the week, and sometimes on Interstate 94. The front bumper, hood, headlights, and fenders get covered in sand, small pebbles, insects, and road salt.
After school, the family might go to a store or a sports field. Small parking spaces can damage the mirror caps and door edges.
The cargo area is also used regularly. Items like grocery bags, boxes, and sports gear can easily glide over the painted surface under the back of the car.

That package is good for using in the city for light tasks. The Q7 was too big for this.
The family often drives on the highway and intends to own the SUV for at least six years. A big section of the hood would remain open for chips. The front part would also create a line on the hood that is Tamarind Brown Metallic in color.
We indicated to the owners where the line would be placed.
They preferred the original color of the factory and did not want a noticeable line on such a big part. Full Front gave them a single piece of film that covered the entire hood. It also covered both front fenders completely.
Full Car PPF would give the widest level of protection. We just did not think it was the best use of this family’s budget. So, we took part of the budget that could have gone toward lower-risk panels and used it on daily contact areas instead.

The owners wanted Tamarind Brown Metallic to look the same after the work.
A matte or satin film on the front would not match the gloss on the rest of the SUV. Color PPF made no sense either. They had chosen this factory color on purpose.
We used SunTek Reaction Clear Gloss.
SunTek states that Reaction has a water-repellent surface and self-healing paint protection film. That made it a good fit for a family SUV that sees road salt, bug marks, dirt, and regular washes.
PPF cannot stop every type of damage. A hard hit or deep cut can still harm the film or paint. It can reduce the risk from the marks this Q7 is most likely to get during normal use.
Before I inspected the Q7 with the owners, I didn’t begin by checking the car’s panels. Instead, I asked them to share how their week was.
The front of the car got hit by debris on the highway, while the doors and edges were bumped by hands, bags, and tight parking. The back of the car had to carry groceries and sports gear.
The roof and back side panels serve different purposes. It’s better to use Full Car PPF to protect them separately rather than all together to get the best value for this family. We recommended the Full Front plus the add-ons because they matched the way the Audi was used.
Our team checked the paint under bright shop lights first. We found a few light delivery marks and cleaned them before the film went on.
We washed the Q7 and prepared the hood, bumper, front fenders, headlights, mirror caps, and A-pillars.
Eric applied a single, continuous sheet of film to the hood. There wasn’t a single line on the panel.
The bumper took longer to wrap due to its openings, curves, decorative elements, and lower corners. After finishing the front end, we applied the film to the door inserts, door edges, and the rear trunk strip.
The Q7 spent the night at our facility in Palatine. The morning after, we examined the corners of the bumper, edges of the hood, headlights, mirrors, doors, A-pillars, and cargo area.
Before the owners returned, we checked to ensure that every edge was smooth.
