A new 2026 Lexus GX 550 in Eminent White Pearl came to our Palatine shop from Barrington. The owner found us on Google and called to ask about Full Front PPF.
He used the GX for work and family trips during the week. On weekends, he drove to a cabin in Wisconsin. The last part of that route was gravel.
After we talked about how he used the GX, our answer was no. The front was not the only part at risk.

When you book a Full Front or Full Car PPF Wrap
The full front Paint Protection Film (PPF) would provide protection for the hood, front bumper, front fenders, and headlights. That is effective for a lot of urban SUVs.
The GX didn’t fit it.
Rocks and gravel could hit the rocker panels and lower doors. The sides could be reached by dirt and salt. The doors and rear panels of the cabin could get marks from small branches nearby.
The bikes and bags were placed close to the back bumper. The cargo area handled skis and other equipment. A single mistake could cause a mark on the painted edge of the load.
Every time he hit the highway, the hood, bumper, headlights, and front fenders were exposed to road debris.

The use of winter salt was also a contributing factor to the expanded coverage. A tall SUV’s lower sides can be reached by salt and road grit.
The presence of tree sap and bird droppings near the cabin was also something to worry about. PPF provides an extra barrier between the paint and the wear and tear of regular road use. Not all types of damage are prevented by it. A deep cut or strong impact can still penetrate the film.
The GX was intended to be kept by the owner for a period of ten years. He did not utilize it in the manner typical of a city SUV.
The entire car has a PPF covering on its front, doors, rear panels, rocker panels, roof, and rear bumper. It also provided protection for the areas adjacent to the cargo opening.
This package was more expensive than Full Front, but it was the same size and had the same utility as the GX.

The owner favored Eminent White Pearl and had no interest in changing the color.
Using a satin or matte film would alter the original appearance of the factory. Choosing the white pearl finish intentionally rendered the Color PPF unnecessary and illogical.
The STEK DYNOshield Clear Gloss preserved the original appearance of the paint, maintaining its factory finish. It provided the body with a smooth and uniform appearance.
The film provides protection from regular chips, dirt from the road, salt, minor scratches, bug stains, tree sap, and bird droppings.
Our team examined the paint under intense shop lighting. Before filming, we washed and cleaned the GX.
First, the hood, bumper, fenders, headlights, and mirrors were finished. The doors, rocker panels, rear quarters, roof, and rear bumper came next.
The GX remained with us for four days of work. We inspected the film for any issues or imperfections around the edges, corners, door gaps, and body lines.
The total cost came to $9,200. This encompassed preparing the paint, applying Full Car PPF, labor, and conducting final checks.
The GX departed with a transparent film covering the entire painted body. The Eminent White Pearl maintained its original factory shine. The Full Front PPF was the first thing the owner inquired about when they called. Full Car turned out to be the better choice after we evaluated its actual use.
The focus was not on purchasing the biggest package. The goal was to protect all areas that were at risk during highway driving, using gravel roads, traveling in winter conditions, and carrying cargo on a daily basis.
