2026 Lexus RX 350 Full Front PPF Case Study: Why Full Car Protection Was More Than This Owner Needed

A new 2026 Lexus RX 350 in Iridium came to our Palatine shop from Glenview. The owner had bought the SUV less than two weeks before the visit. He liked the silver paint and wanted to keep it clean for many years.

A coworker had used our shop for PPF and told him to call before winter. The owner first asked about Full Car PPF.

“I plan to keep the Lexus for a long time. Should I cover the whole vehicle now?”

We also looked at his route, parking, highway use, and the parts with the most risk. We recommended Full Front PPF with three add-ons. It gave him strong protection where he needed it most without the cost of full-body film.

We talked through four levels of protection. We wanted the film to match the way he used the Lexus.

Why Bumper-Only PPF Was Too Small

The front bumper takes direct hits from rocks, salt, bugs, and road dirt. Bumper-only film would have left the hood, headlights, and front fenders open.

Small stones can fly higher than the bumper. For this owner, bumper-only PPF did not cover enough.

Why Partial Front Left Too Much Paint Open

A Partial Front PPF would protect the bumper, headlights, front sections of the fenders, and approximately 18 inches of the hood.

This package is suitable for a city car with minimal mileage. The owner regularly drove on the highway multiple times a week and intended to keep the SUV for at least seven years.

The majority of the hood would remain uncovered behind the film line. We indicated to him the point where the line would intersect the Iridium hood. Despite its ability to conceal the edge better than a dark color, silver can still accumulate dust and wax near it.

The correct choice was to use clear gloss because only a portion of the vehicle was coated with film. A front with a satin or matte finish would appear distinct from the doors and rear panels.

XPEL Ultimate Plus applies a transparent coating on top of the paint. It provides protection against typical rock chips, road debris, and minor surface scratches. When heat is applied, the top layer of the film can also help minimize the appearance of minor scratches.
