The owner did not schedule a meeting. As she was driving her new 2026 Toyota Tundra, she saw our store on Harlem Avenue. In 10 minutes, the pickup truck arrived in our parking lot.
The Tundra was coated with Magnetic Gray Metallic paint. The seller had already put a protective film on the front of the vehicle. Our main job was not to persuade her to buy a different service package. We had to check what was already in the pickup truck.

Under bright shop lights, we saw dealer film on the front bumper, part of the hood, and the front part of both fenders.
The film was clean. Its edges were flat. We found no cuts or loose corners. There was no good reason to remove it.
Full Front PPF would have replaced parts that were still in good shape. Full Car PPF would have covered panels with little risk in her work week. So we made a plan for the open areas.

The owner runs a small event decor company. Her truck carries boxes, folded tables, metal stands, signs, and bags of fabric.
Most damage did not come from highway stones.
It came from three places:
Her last truck had deep marks across the rear bumper. The rocker panels had chips near the front wheels. The door edges had paint marks from tight work sites.
We added film only where the Tundra faced regular contact:
The mirror covers were hit by road dirt and parked cars. The use of door cups prevented nail and ring marks on the door. Door-edge film protects against damage near walls, carts, or other vehicles.
The rocker panels cost $550 instead of the usual $400 because the Tundra needed extra film.
The back bumper also had a price tag of $550. The path was broad and had many bends around the steps.
I requested the owner to demonstrate to me how she loaded the truck. She removed two empty boxes, a folded stand, and a metal frame. She pointed out where each part of the truck made contact.
That short demo told me more than a package list could. The rear bumper was the first risk. Long items could slide over it. Metal stands could hit the corners. A narrow luggage strip alone would not cover enough of this bumper.
Next came the rocker panels. Salt and grit could stay wet there during the winter. I watched the dealer film before telling her a price. The film didn’t belong to us, but it was still doing well. Removing a good PPF would increase the cost without any clear benefit.
We left it in place.

The owner wanted to maintain the shiny finish of the factory Magnetic Gray Metallic.
The satin film will alter the appearance. The color PPF will go over the original gray color of the factory. A clear shiny film was a better choice for a set of additional items.
We applied LLumar Platinum Clear Gloss. LLumar claims that their film is designed to provide protection from flying rocks, road salt, sand, dirt, bugs, oil, and other everyday dangers. Heat can also make small marks on its surface go away.
We compared the new film with the dealer film. The items were different, but they both had a shiny finish. The new parts matched the truck well when viewed from a normal distance.

It took all day. The Tundra was left overnight so our team could inspect the rocker edges and rear bumper corners the next morning.
It all began with a stroll around the truck. We saved the film from the good dealer. We made sure to keep the work areas that were still in use safe. The owner covered the cost for the places that her hands, shoes, boxes, and metal stands would come into contact with.
A bigger package was not the correct choice. It was a small plan that suited her actual job.
