There are several ways to keep car paint from getting damaged by the sun. Some are low cost. Some endure longer. Some products shield from UV rays but don’t protect from rocks or scratches.
Park in Shade or a Garage
This answer is the simplest. Less sunlight leads to less UV rays and less warmth. But a lot of drivers don’t have the option. Shade is helpful, but it’s not always available.
Use a Car Cover
A well-fitting car cover can protect from the sun and dust. If your car is parked for long periods, this can be useful.
Car covers are not flawless. A dirty cover can cause the paint to rub off. The wind can shift it. A cheap loose cover can capture moisture or move dirt around on the surface.
Many people who drive their car every day stop using the cover after a few weeks. It becomes boring quickly.
Wash the Car Often
This may seem simple, but it is important.
Under a hot sun, dust, bird droppings, bug splatter, tree sap, and water spots can cause damage to the paint. Clean the car frequently. Wash safely. Please don’t rub dry dirt onto the clear coat.
If bird poop lands on the car hood, clean it up quickly. Tree sap is the same. The longer they wait, the worse it becomes.
Use Wax or Spray Sealant
Wax and spray sealants are affordable options for taking care of your car. They can put a shiny layer on top of the clear coat for a temporary improvement.
Negative is lifespan. Wax fades. Spray items should be used frequently. If your car is always parked outside, you should have a regular schedule. Wax is better than nothing. However, the PPF coverage is different.
